Wooden wicks

Wooden wicks, sometimes, can be a little tricky to light and keep burning. Unlike cotton wicks, wood wicks can be inconsistent in their quality and manufacturing.

Here are a few tips if you get a wood wick candle that doesn’t perform well.

When first lighting, stay by the candle. If the flame starts to go down, reapply your lighter. You may have to do this multiple times. What you want to see is a nice wax pool around the wick and the flame staying consistent.

Trim your wood wicks only when they get a “curl” on top. Always leave some of the carbon (burnt) area on top.
